WILO analyses your site content to find link opportunities.

Give it an anchor text and it will show you where to link.

Just like other plugins, WILO scans your content for internal links.

However, there’s one massive difference: WILO does not automate your backlinking; it enables you to optimise it.

When viewing a page on the front end, WILO shows you two reports.

The first is the page audit, which reports on the internal linking for your current page.

The second is a link explorer, which you use to find new internal linking opportunities.

These two reports help you improve your SEO by curating and optimising your internal linking structure.

The page audit.

This is a report about the internal linking for the current page you are viewing.

The page audit report provides detailed information about other pages on your site with internal links to the current page.

This report includes:

  • A list of all the internal links to the page
  • The corresponding anchor texts
  • Notifications on duplicate anchor texts
  • Notifications on stuffed links (the same page linking more than once)
  • An impact score based on link juice
  • A quick link to edit any of the currently linked pages

The plugin shows you all this information through a front-end interface – there’s no back-end admin page for the plugin.

An example of the WILO UI for improving internal links

The link explorer.

This report shows you where you can find new internal linking opportunities.

Using the link explorer, you can search your entire site content for potential text or phrases that can be used to create new internal links with optimised anchors.

WILO finds you results based on your search, which means you can build a solid set of internal links with non-duplicate anchors and optimise these anchors by using relevant keywords to improve your overall SEO.

For example, imagine your current page is about ‘Gaining more backlinks’.

You would use the Link Explorer as follows:

  • Add related terms to the tool, such as ‘gaining backlinks’, ‘diversifying backlinks’, ‘backlinks’, and maybe even ‘off-page SEO.’
  • WILO then scans all your content for pages or posts with these phrases
  • Once found, it shows you the page title and slug, the matching phrase
  • The potential impact of the new link (based on link juice)
  • A link to view the page with the matching phrases automatically highlighted

Again, this is all shown on the front-end UI; there’s no back-and-forth between back-end admin and front-end content.
